Paying for the HPV Vaccine

Because the HPV vaccine is recommended by the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), the cost is covered by most health insurance plans under the Affordable Care Act, meaning that individuals with insurance should receive the vaccine at no out-of-pocket cost.

Without insurance coverage, the HPV vaccination costs $130-$170 per shot (roughly $390-$500 for the series).

For individuals without insurance in Georgia, the Department of Public Health administers the Vaccines for Children (VFC), a program that offers the HPV vaccine at no cost. Local health departments and participating healthcare providers offer the HPV vaccine through this program. No one will be denied a vaccine due to an inability to pay this fee. The VFC program provides vaccines to children and adolescents who are:

  • 18 years of age or younger

AND

  • Medicaid Enrolled
  • American Indian or Alaska Native
  • Without health insurance
  • Underinsured (seen in a Federally Qualified Health Center or Rural Health Center)
